ABOUT

Meet Pamela | Founder of THE SACRED ORDINARY

For over a decade, Pamela Barrios has worked beneath the surface of skin, treating it not just as tissue to refine—but as a mirror of the inner landscape. As the founder of PIEL by Pamela, she built her practice around the belief that skin is a reflection not only of external stressors, but of internal rhythms.

Now, with The Sacred Ordinary, Pamela weaves clinical expertise and ritual-intention into each session: advanced skincare meets mindful calm, precision meets presence, and the ordinary act of touch becomes a ceremony of renewal.

In her signature Threshold Skinwork method, Pamela combines targeted modalities with intentional pause, refined atmosphere, and a sense of space for transformation. Each treatment becomes an invitation to remember: to reconnect with self, to recalibrate body and breath, and to reclaim the beauty that arises from coherence rather than correction.

Located in Union City, New Jersey, just minutes from New York City, The Sacred Ordinary is a private space by appointment only designed for those who sense there is more than just a “facial,” and who come seeking ritual, renewal, and a return to self.

Welcome to a place where skin meets soul. Where touch is language and beauty becomes remembrance.

FAQ

What are skin rituals?

Skin rituals are intentional skincare experiences designed to support both the complexion and the nervous system. Each treatment at The Sacred Ordinary combines advanced technique, mindful touch, and sensory detail sound, breath, and atmosphere to create a moment of restoration. It’s skincare performed slowly, with reverence, so your body can remember what ease feels like.

How to book a session?

All sessions are by appointment only and can be booked online through the Schedule page.

Choose your preferred ritual and time, then complete your intake form -this helps Pamela tailor each treatment to your skin’s current rhythm. If you’re unsure which service is best, start with The Threshold Ritual, a 90-minute foundational experience that introduces the full philosophy of The Sacred Ordinary.

What are ceremonial elixirs?

Ceremonial elixirs are curated blends of botanical essences, hydrosols, or serums chosen intuitively for each session. They’re not one product but a moment in the treatment- a combination that meets your skin where it is. Each elixir is applied with breath and presence, allowing the skin to receive nourishment as both treatment and ritual gesture.

Just arrive as you are. There’s no need for makeup or special products beforehand. Your skin will be assessed and cared for holistically during your session.

Do I need to prepare for my treatment?
What is breathwork?

In each session, gentle breath awareness is used to help regulate the body’s stress response and deepen relaxation. This isn’t a performance or structured technique, simply an invitation to reconnect with your own rhythm. When breath slows, circulation improves, muscles release, and the skin’s radiance naturally returns.

What is the difference between PIEL by Pamela and The Sacred Ordinary?

PIEL by Pamela is Pamela’s skincare studio-the origin of her advanced facial practice.

The Sacred Ordinary grew from that work, expanding into the ceremonial and restorative aspects of skincare. Both share the same hands, the same care; The Sacred Ordinary simply invites you deeper into ritual and reflection.

Where is The Sacred Ordinary located?

The studio is located in Union City, New Jersey, just minutes from New York City, in a private, appointment-only setting designed for quiet restoration. Location details and parking information are provided upon booking confirmation.

Can I purchase products or gift sessions?

Yes. Curated home-care recommendations and digital gift certificates are available in-studio or by request via email. Pamela can guide you toward products that align with your current treatment focus and skin goals.

How often should I book a ritual?

Most guests visit every 4–6 weeks to maintain results and regulate skin rhythm.

Seasonal or transitional sessions are also encouraged, times when your body and environment are shifting, and your skin is seeking new balance.
